“A Cup of Tea and Patience”

He tries to find himself
following footsteps backwards
going up the down slide
seeking a place where
the voices sing sweetest
redacted resolutions
of a time gone by
as simple a matter
as collecting the snowflakes
from her painted cheeks
or capturing a bit of starlight
to dance within his darkened halls
but time is unrelenting
age insists upon progression
weary shoulders slump
beneath girders of reality
a cup of tea and patience
he will wait for rain to come
and make the flowers grow
